Remember the sense of injustice we all felt when the government handed out billions of dollars to big business during the financial crisis. These businesses responded by paying out huge sums to CEO’s and directors and continued to sack workers with families and mortgages.
Basically Barista does not exist solely for profit – though profit is important to saying in business and providing our win, win, win service. We are a family run business, with ordinary people as shareholders that offer security for those we employ.
Our profit is used to support needy and destitute people in Africa (specifically Tanzania), it goes to local churches and charitable groups that work for the good of local communities, and it goes to employing local people and offering job security. Our staff knows they will not be sacked simply to create more profit for affluent directors and shareholders.
Importantly, we do not attempt to use our social conscience to obtain tax concessions that can create an unfair advantage in the marketplace. Though the marketplace is not always fair-minded and ethical, we endeavor to share in the market fairly.

Via email they informed me it was my fault the handle broke- even though it was used according to their instructions.
